The road called life

A man walked down the road called life

He schooled himself well, got a job, and a wife

To them three children soon did come

Two lovely daughters and a handsome son

It seemed to all who were able to see

This wealthy man was happy as could be

To the eye ‘twas true what the people did find

But what they could not see was inside his mind

He longed for something no money could buy

Something precious and larger than sky

He couldn't quite place his finger on it

So on a bar stool this fellow did sit

And while he wondered what it could be

The bartender gave him a drink for free

A vine on a hill

A vine on a hill

Drained of its wine

To give life to those who thirst

To obey the will

Of the Father divine

And of the fruits become the first

Prayer is that gift

          which God has placed in our hands

To come boldly to His throne

          with our life's demands

And to ask Him for His help

          as we fight each daily war

That my friend is the reason

that's what prayer is for

Poem: Suffering, agony

Suffering

agony

He lifted not His voice

Trembling

terribly

It was the Father's choice

Despised

rejected

ridiculed around the lands

Criticized

buffeted

Pilate washed his hands

Whipping

scorns

walk to Calvary

Stripping

thorns

"...Thou hast forsaken me!"

Spear

finished

taken from the tree

Fear

diminished

He rose to set us free

If I were standing now at Your cross

I wonder what I would do

For in the past

to my despair

I drove the nails right through

First poem I wrote after being saved.  Thought I would share it.
