I believe that the next great equipping of the church will come in the area of spiritual warfare. I believe that it has to. There are too many strongholds in our lives that prevent us from moving into the great inheritance in Christ that we have.
While we have been charged with fighting the good fight, resisting the devil, and putting on the armor of God… have we really taken this responsibility as men of God in our lives?
Have we cast of our concern for what people would think of us and be determined to both realize and act on the fact that we truly do wrestle against “principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].”(Eph 6:12)
In the past week the Lord has confirmed on different occasions that in order to advance in the kingdom of God… in order to move into the abundance, the inheritance, the intentions of Christ in our lives…
We must go after the devil with intent. We must determine to partake in the victory of Christ, to be more than conquerors, and to claim what He died to give us.
Let me share a story.
While I was walking my dog in a park one day earlier this week I notice that the park was covered with geese. But as I walked toward them they flew away, long before I or my dog were in striking distance. It didn’t faze me and I didn’t give it much thought.
The next day as I went to walk the dog and got close to the park it was filled again with geese, but this time I felt the Lord say, “Pay close attention.” And as I walked toward the geese, they began to fly away. The made a lot of noise and left a lot of mess… but they flew away as I approached.
“This is how it is in spiritual warfare.” That is what I felt the Lord confirming.
The geese represented the demons. All I had to do was walk toward them and they would flee.
All you have to do is walk toward them.
The next day I was walking the dog and was on the phone with my wife. Without realizing it I had walked to within 20 feet of the flock of geese. They didn’t make a sound. They didn’t fly away. Until…
I hung up the phone and looked at them.
Don’t be distracted. Don’t ignore the war. Don’t think you are above it.
Focus with intent. Take authority. Drive out the geese in Jesus’ name…
Clear the land the Lord has given you. Tear down the altars that may have been left there. Dig up what might have been buried. Clear out the groves that would not honor God.
Walk the perimeter of your life looking for breaks in the wall… in the hedge. And reinforce them with the stones of the confessions in Christ.
You can, in Jesus’ name, break down every barrier that devil has raised up. You can cast those mountains into the sea.
Go… get rid of the geese… focus with intent. Ignoring the enemy doesn’t get rid of him… it just gives him time to dig his heals in.
