Right now I work for a door company. We sell, install, and service all types of commercial doors. And every so often (more often than our techs would like) we get an emergency service call.
Someone needs something done right away and they know to call us because we have a dispatcher always ready to answer the phone.
Who the he reaches out to for making the call all depends on a few things:
The expertise needed
The location
Their willingness to take the call
Sometimes it can take a few tries before the dispatcher finds someone willing to take the call. Someone who is willing to say, "Send it over... I'll get my keys."
"For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God." 2 Cor 9:12
Each one of us has an area of expertise. God gives specific talents, skills, and strengths to each of us... in the exact measure necessary to complete the task.
"To one is given by the Spirit... to another by the same Spirit..." 1 Cor 12:8
The question isn't whether or not the Dispatcher will ask you to go on a service call... it is "Will you take the call when He does?"
It might be that someone needs encouragement...
Or to be dug out of the snow...
That they might just need someone to listen...
Or to tell them they are forgiven...
Maybe it is a call for compassion...
Or a more tangible need like food, clothing, or finance...
God's emergency line is always open. And when His children call on Him He always answers.
Sometimes it just takes some time while He reaches out to someone willing to take the call... to get out of bed in the middle of the night... to agree to be inconvenienced... to disrupt their day simply because they got the call.
You can say, "God, why don't you call so-and-so, they're closer... better suited... don't have the obligations I do..."
Or you can say, "Send it over... I'll get my keys."
When the next call comes, I wonder... what will the answer be.
