Yoda was a Christian

For thus loved God the world, that the Son, the unique One, He gave… For did not send God the Son into the world that He might judge the world, but that might be saved the world through Him.” John 3:16a, 17

Throw a little Yoda “hmmm…” after that and it could have been a line from Star Wars®.

The Greek grammar and sentence structure of the Bible is different than our English.

The verse above is in the actual word order of the original Greek text.

Yoda knew what he was talking about.

I am not saying that the author intended it to be a “Christian” work but so many themes in the Star Wars® movies and books hovercraft dangerously close to being Biblical.

Take the term paduan which not only seems quite close to the Greek paidion but is used correctly as far as the Greek definition goes.

Certainly there are things that are way off.

But ultimately… the battle between right and wrong,…
between good and evil, … being won by what seem to be a “primitive” but wise army that get their strength not from all of the technological advances and power that can be demonstrated by men…  but by Something outside of who they are… Something that allows them to wield a sword with such power… Something invisible that can literally repel the laser fire of the enemy…

…sounds a lot like the Church.

Am I digging too deeply into the story for meaning?  Am I trying to find something that was never intended?

Paul would say it didn’t matter.

What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.” Phil 1:18

The desire in each one of us to see “Good” ultimately prevail… the recognition we all express regarding this struggle… this war… that something is wrong and it needs to be righted…
…is something that is written in our hearts because God IS real… and because Christ HAS won.

The apostle Paul recognized this when he said to the Athenians, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said.” Acts 17:28 (emphasis mine)

We can’t let the “secular” push those of us with the “Force” out of the contemporary dialogue.
We need to jump in and say… “You know that what we see is not all there is… that it points to something else… Someone else.”

We have been armed with a sword… the Word of God (Eph. 6:17)…

And been given our faith as a shield that is able to repel the laser fire (fiery darts) of the enemy (Eph. 6:16).

We are well equipped and well empowered.

Remember…

Victorious in you Christ is… hmmm.

Let’s start a rebellion…

Or maybe a retellion… where we tell the story as it really is… His story.
