A child like faith

It is said that we need the faith of a child to please Him.  Have I got a good story for you...

After a long walk, when my daughter was four years old she told me to sit on the front steps; she wanted to surprise me with something.  So I complied.  She came through the door a few minutes later with two glasses of water.

            "For you sir," she said.

As we sat drinking our water I asked her if she wanted to hear a "cool" story.  I usually had a better chance of hearing "yes" if I said a "cool" story rather than "a bible" story.  She said sure.

I began, "Do you know that once Jesus was invited to a wedding and they ran out of wine.  So He changed their water into wine for them.  Pretty cool, huh?"

"Daddy," she asked, "Can Jesus change my water into wine?"

I took a chance.  I had my doubts that he would, but I put it in His hands.  "Sure He can sweetie."

At that she chugged all of her water and said in a flustered voice, "He can't change it now.  It's in my tummy."

I began laughing so hard.  She joined in.  I'll never forget that moment.  She not only believed He could, she believed He would.  And she knew she doesn't like wine (please don't ask how) so she drank her water before He changed it on her.  If only I had her faith.
