A three fold cord

Consider yourself a piece of rope.  Alone you can hold a bit of weight.  You can pull a decent load.  And when needed, you can hold back a barking dog.  Now consider how strong you would be if you were intertwined with another rope.  And how about a third?  Even if the load got so heavy that you alone could not pull it.  If that barking dog had been on a good diet and a routine exercise program.  Or if the weight increased.  You could still handle it because you were now part of a three fold cord.  And a three fold cord can not be easily broken (Ecclesiastes ).

No matter what the relationship.  Whether it be with a spouse, a friend, your son or daughter.  If you have Christ in that rope.  If He is one third of the relationship.  That cord will not be easily broken.  By being connected to Him, you will be connected to the other person.  And whatever the trial or the struggle, the weight of it will not be so great that the rope would break and the relationship be lost.  That could only happen if we allow the rope to unwind.  If we lose a grip on the Savior.  If we choose to tackle the weight alone.

They say that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.  Once one link goes, the chain has failed.  But with a cord, it is only as week as its strongest rope.  If two of the tree fail, then the cord will hold only what that last rope can handle.  And nothing...  this is worth repeating... NOTHING is stronger than Jesus.  You must keep Christ in all of your relationships.  Remain wrapped around Him.  Let Him support the load of the relationship.  Certainly you will feel some strain.  Yes, you may even break a sweat.  Or pull a muscle here or there.  But as long as He remains in the picture.  As long as that cord is three fold.  It will not break.

This is wonderful if the two of you agree to be part of that rope.  If the two of you hold fast to Him.  But what if one decides to let go?  Well then... can Christ not support you?  If He is carrying the load, is He not carrying you as well?  Let Him be your strength.  His Spirit will complete the cord.  If you hold fast to Him you will not fall.  You will not snap.

He will carry your load.  If you let Him.
