Doubting your faith?

There have been times when I have been asked if I ever doubt or question my faith?  Or God?  Or my salvation? 

Doubt is a state of immobility.  The best way out of it is to move. 

One of the strongest arguments I see for God is the fact that people doubt Him. 

Why…

because you cannot doubt nothing. 

To doubt is to not believe.  Therefore to doubt is to “not act according to your confession.”  Yet you still have your confession. 

Even if your confession is wrong… when you act according to it… you are believing something.  That is why it is true that everyone believes.  And even if they will not admit what it is… if you pay close enough attention you can say, “I see what you believe.”

Believing is state of action.  It moves you from doubt.

When in doubt… move out.

When you find yourself “questioning” your faith… remember that you are not insane.

How can you question something that is not there?  Is there a dimly lit interrogation room with a light shining brightly on an empty seat that sits behind a desk?  Am I walking back and forth shouting questions in the air?

When people say that they do not believe in Jesus, or in the existence of God I laugh a bit to myself.  Not because of them, but because of what they are saying.  What they are actually saying is, “I do not act in accordance with the confession that Jesus is real, or that God exists.”  True, they do not. But what they do or do not do doesn’t change who God is.

Semantics?  The devil is the master of twisting words.  We aren’t talking semantics here, we are stating facts.

And why all of this?  Because I want to encourage you that on those days when you may question your faith… you can find comfort in the fact that you are not insane.  The enemy would distract you from the fact that you are not questioning something but some One, in fact you are asking questions of The One… the One Who tells us to “ask”, the One who tells us to “seek”, the One who tells us that He “is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6b

So… doubting is a choice.  As hard as it may seem to hear it.  You chose to doubt.  You choose to stand still.  You choose to stay in a state of immobility.

If you want to get out of the state of doubt…

Get moving.

Act as though Jesus is real… and He will meet you right there.
