Why God brings you to a desert place – Mark 6:35

And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time [is] far passed:” Mark 6:35
Have you ever been in a desert place?  A place where it is dry… and hot… and seemingly lacking of provision.
The disciples found themselves in a situation like that.  They had followed Jesus.  They stayed with Him.  They trusted Him.
And now… they wondered.
What was He thinking?
Did He realize that all eyes were on Him and the situation didn’t look good?
Did He get side tracked or make a wrong turn and not realize that He had brought them to a desert?  At dinner time?!?
If you are familiar with the story you might recall that Jesus fed 5,000 men (not including women and children) with five loaves and two fishes.  And there was food left over.
But before we get to that cool part… we need to look at Jesus’ response to the disciples’ comments.
He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat.” Mark 6:37
What the disciples saw as a setback was actually what Jesus had provided as a proving ground.  He knew where He had taken them.  He knew what time it was.  He knew.
And He wasn’t trying to be sarcastic when He said, “Give ye them to eat.”
He was saying, “Why do you think I brought you here?”
Jesus charged the disciples to feed the people.
Has he brought you to a desert place?  Does it seem that perhaps, just maybe, in His calculation He got you off at the wrong exit on the highway and you just happened to get lost?  Are your circumstances such that you are wondering “What could He be thinking?”
Look around for those you are to be feeding.
He didn’t bring you here to confuse you… He brought you here to use you.
Give ye them to eat.
And rest assured knowing that He will provide through you if you would just be ready to carry the basket.
