You should be committed! - Psalm 37:5

While for me this statement can be taken literally and I can be fitted for a nice white jacket with fancy arms… it holds just as true that we should uphold our commitments…. That we should go “all in” when we decide to go in… that we should persevere.
It is also true that there are some things that we need to commit… and in order to do that we need to understand what “to commit” means.
Commit:  place into the protection and care of
Consider the following verses:
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.” Psalm 37:5
Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.” Proverbs 16:3
These two verses carry promises.  They also carry instruction.
(Before we go any further, remember this… Trust is moving forward with confidence and security in the ability of…  we’ll be using that soon!)
If you have ever heard the phrase, “Man plans, God laughs” I want you to ask yourself, “Is that Biblical?”
A “way” is a direction… which can also be a “plan.”  Think about it.  What “way” are you going to go about doing that project?  What “way” will you take that product to market?  What “way” do you suggest things get done?
Wondering where to get a great plan from?  Re-read Proverbs 16:3 again…
Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts (what you are planning to do) shall be established.”
(Many version of the Bible interchange thoughts with plans (see Jeremiah 29:11))
And the way to get direction from the Lord is to start moving.  How funny is that?!?
Start doing what He has gifted you to do, but commit what you are doing to Him and He will give you the plan… then…
Place your plan into the protection and care of the Lord, move forward with that plan with confidence and security in the ability of the Lord, and He shall bring it to pass.”
What these verses are telling us is that God does not laugh at our plans… He wants them.
As a matter of fact… He has them for us and wants to give them to us.  He just wants to see that we are willing to move when He says move, to do what He says to do, and to acknowledge Him in all our ways…
That means to give Him credit in all of our plans
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”  Proverbs 3:5-6
A good friend of mine reminded me the other day that it is easier to steer a moving ship… it’s impossible to steer one that is sitting still.
I gotta go… I got things to do… plans to make… a God to glorify!

Be blessed.
