Don't be a parasite

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:” Johh 15:26
Paraklētos, that is the term used for Comforter. We often describe it as one that comes along side another.  The Holy Spirit comes along side us to comfort us.
But I think that it implies more than that.  I think that in order to see it we look at the opposite: a parasite.
A parasite attaches itself to another living creature and takes life from it.  But the Paraclete doesn’t just come along side… it attaches to you, and give life to you!
The Holy Spirit then, that proceeds from the Father comes to us and attaches to us, bringing life to us.  And when it grabs a hold of us and attaches to us it testifies of Christ.  And we come to Him!
No one comes to the Son except the Father calls him.  And no one can go to the Father except through the Son.  So the Holy Spirit, which proceeds from the Father is the very means which God calls and carries us to Him through Him.
Everything we need is injected into our very being through the attachment and sustenance of the Holy Spirit.  All of what God has for us, from all of Who God is for us, comes to us through the Holy Spirit.  It is the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit that cries out “Abba Father!”
And we are to be the same for others.  We are to come alongside them in their need, attach to them, and bring life to them!  Not take life from them.  Too often we forget this and the very relationships God puts in place to minister (meet the need) grace… the ones He desires to bring life… rob joy and bring death.
Be a paraclete.
