Give us this day

I was standing on the balcony of hotel by the beach and I felt led to pray the Lord’s prayer.  As I got to the line “Give us this day our daily bread.”  I felt the Spirit speak to me and say, “Slower.”

So I repeated it only to again hear, “Slower.”

One more time, even slower, and then what I believe the Spirit was trying to tell me it hit me.

This was not only a request for our daily bread (provision)… it was a request to Our Daily Bread (Our Provider).

When I said it again with a pause before “our daily bread” I realized that what I was praying was that the Lord,… Who is the true Bread that comes down from heaven,… Who is Our Daily Bread,… Who is Jehovah Jireh: the Lord Who provides,… give us this day!

When we begin our day praying these words we need to understand that we are requesting that the day be ours.  We are requesting that the Lord give it to us to glorify His name.  We stand on the promise of Jehovah Nissi, who is our Victory, and we do not let the day defeat us… but we show that we are more than conquerors and we take the day as our own… to glorify His name.

The Lord has given you today… what are you going to do with it?
