Let me see your ID

Sounds like something a police officer would say when they have stopped a car, or perhaps a person at the liquor store or cigarette stand (do they still have those?).  But seeing as I don’t smoke and rarely find myself in a liquor store BUT have been stopped by the police when driving more than I care to admit… I used the first example.
But our ID is really just a document that confirms that we are who we say we are.  Our identity, however, defines just who that “who” is.
And there are three things that we need to have in order to know who we are, in order to have a secure indemnity.  They are to…
1.       Be a part
2.       Feel a part
3.       Play a part
It is about security, contentment, and readiness.  And we learn it from our family; either from our birth family, our adopted family, or the family of God.
It is about knowing who you are, knowing what you have, and knowing what you can do.
It is about how you see yourself, how you see others seeing you, and about how you see yourself working with them.
In Christ we have three confessions that gives us a secure identity:
I am who God says I am
I have what God says I have
I can do what God says I can do
Be at rest in the Lord.
You are His.  His name is yours.
He is your ID.
