Some time ago the Lord told me that He had released me from my job. Of course, there was time between what He told me would happen and when it would actually happen. I just hung in there watching it unfold.
Then the notice came out for us to schedule our annual reviews with our boss. OK. I did that. I scheduled my meeting for Monday. Figured I was one of the first to respond and could get it done in a timely fashion.
My boss accepted the invite (it is all done electronically these days) and it seemed we were all set.
Then we had a 24 hour prayer meeting at our home. 10PM Friday until 10PM Saturday. It was during that prayer meeting that the Lord said, “Tuesday.”
I was to be let go from my job on Tuesday. Of course, I was excited and concerned. Since my meeting was set for Monday, I wondering if something bad was going to happen in my meeting on Monday and then I would get the ax on Tuesday.
You can imagine my exciting when sometime on Sunday I checked my blackberry to find an email notification… that my boss had rescheduled the meeting for Tuesday.
Yep. Tuesday. Just like the Lord had said. And the funny thing was, my boss was in all day Monday. There seemed no apparent reason to reschedule.
But I learned a few things...
1. It doesn’t matter when I schedule something… the Lord will do it in His time.
2. The Lord still… definitely… speaks to us.
3. I should be super excited about the other things He has said!
So, now I am unemployed, by the world’s standards. Sixteen and a half years done, the rest of my life to go. But I have a strong confidence knowing that I am not out of work, just on a different assignment.
It is good to be about my Father’s business.
Just thought I would share this considering there are probably many who have been laid off due to “position elimination.”
Just remember that God never takes out of something… He takes us into something.
