I took my four year old daughter out for Chinese food one night. With the check came two fortune cookies. She asked if she could have them both so I gave her mine. When we left the restaurant she had them held tightly in her hand. I asked is she wanted me to open one for her to eat. She said no. So I asked if she wanted me to carry them for her in my pocket. She said, "Okay, but be really careful 'cause they're worth a fortune."
Oh that I could have her eyes and her heart. If I could only take the words of my Father in heaven as literally as she took mine. Could that be part of what Jesus meant when he said we had to be like children? Think of the wonderful promises we could grab hold of if we believed His word. Think of how content we would be if we truly realized that the gifts He gives us are priceless. We would count everything we had as my daughter did, they would be worth a fortune.
