That's right... I said "Sunday" Morning quarterback. And before we try to figure out what harsh word I might bring to an inactive Church realize this... I mean it as encouragement.
That's right... encouragement.
Monday Morning Quarterbacks are characterized by their critical evaluation of all that the real quarterback did wrong the day before. They can tell you what they would have done. And they can criticize the one who was in the game.
But a Sunday Morning Quarterback... at least a Christian SMQ has a greater advantage. Why? Because the bible says that our words have power unto life. What I want to challenge my Brother's in Christ to do is this...
call the game before you play it
You remember when you were younger, before the reality of a job set in, before the reality of responsibility... when you would go in the yard or the street with the pig skin and play a whole Superbowl by yourself... giving the play by play. You faced linebackers blitzing... but managed to move and break free. You hugged sidelines, and beat the clock. You were tired... no one thought you would pull it off... but you did. The whole game was a highlight film. A nail biter. A testament to your strength and grit.
That is what a Christian SMQ does. We call the game prophetically!
And so my challenge to you is this,... as men,... as effective followers of Jesus Christ... call the game before you play it. See yourself rising above temptation. See yourself honoring God. See yourself victorious. For that is what you are in Him.
You are more than a conqueror. You reign in Christ. Take hold of that promise... take hold of your life... and honor God with it as a Victor in Christ.
Call the game.
