Hard to move...

I am quite possibly the most stubborn human alive.  When I have made my mind up... changing it is extremely difficult to say the least.  It is a fault I have.  I'll admit.  Or should I say, "I confess."  (Doesn't matter what you say because I am going to do it my way anyway.)

So I wonder if the Lord can speak to such a stubborn fool like me.  I know that there are many in the Bible, like Jonah, and Peter, who were stubborn... strong-willed if you will... that the Lord did speak too in spite of their disposition.  But I am not sure that I can even think myself able to be counted among those men of God.

But there is one character in the Word that sounds alot like me...

Balaam's donkey.  You can read about him in Numbers 22:21-35.  The short of it is this... Balaam's donkey had the job of carrying Balaam.  But Balaam wasn't going where the Lord wanted Him too so and angel was sent to strike down Balaam.  The donkey saw the angel and tried to exit.  When Balaam got angry he hit his donkey.  And then, the unthinkable happened.... The donkey spoke!

Yep, there I am... the donkey.  God has not elevated me to a position other than to carry.  It is not a great job (or is it) and it is often not very appreciated by those who are "riding", but it is ordained.

So back to my question about being stubborn and God speaking to us.  He showed the donkey the angel... He'll show us stuff too.  But the coolest thing is this...

He made the donkey speak... and He can make us speak too.

God speaks to us because of Who He is, not because of who we are.  It all comes from Him, and it is all grace.

Should I be less stubborn?  With people I am sure... with the enemy... NEVER!!!

Resist the devil, the Bible says, and he will flee from you.  Being strong-willed can also be a gift from God.  The question is...

Who will you resist?
