The advice of a king

be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;”  1 Kings 2:2
When King David was on his way out… when his days on this earth were numbered… he wanted to make sure his son got this one thing straight.
Be strong.  Show yourself to be a man.
Whenever a man of God gives Godly counsel to his son the devil wants to come in and twist it.
Being strong does not mean…
Don’t ever show emotion.
Don’t ever cry.
Don’t ever admit your failures.
Don’t ever admit you are wrong.
Win at all costs.
It does mean to “be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” Ephesians 6:10
With the end of that to be able to withstand the devil.
To be strong is to submit to God.  To win is to accept His victory.  To show yourself strong is to serve as Jesus served, to love as He loved, to resist temptation.
We want to be a threat to the kingdom of darkness.
We were meant rule and reign in Christ.
To be men.
