The Person of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a Person.
Luke 3:22 said that the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape.
In Luke 12:12 we see that the Holy Spirit teaches us.
In John  14:26 we read of the Holy Spirit, “But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
The Holy Spirit is not some power that a Christian controls, but He is God, and He is the Power by which a Christian should be controlled.
We do not seek to have the Holy Spirit submit unto our will, but we seek to submit unto His.
When we receive the Holy Spirit we welcome Him in.  We surrender to His control.  We allow ourselves to be used by Him.
The word for “Comforter” describes One that comes along side and attaches to you to provide for you.  When we think of the Holy Spirit we must realize that He attaches to us and that He is an infinite Being who then carries us.
As Christians we must not believe that we have been given some power to control, but have been given the Power that controls. (Yes, I repeated that… it was important)
To deny that the Holy Spirit is a Person (not in the sense that you and I are “persons” but in the sense that He has an identity and a will) and to deny that He is God is to blaspheme The Great I Am.
And blasphemy of the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven for it is the very Spirit of God that drives us to repentance.  Were we to deny the Spirit that beckons us to the Father through the Son, we would find ourselves unable to find Grace.
The Holy Spirit is worthy of our praise and worship.
Submit your spirit to the Holy Spirit and see what He will do through you.
