“He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become [his] son at the length.” Proverbs 29:21
When we come to a find a true relationship in Jesus… accepting Him as our personal Savior, we often realize that all along, even in our worst days… He was there for us. He had a plan for us.
Some of us have “worse” stories than others. Some of us were raised in good Christian homes. Some were raised in religious homes.
Wherever we were raised, until we became a child of God through the blood of Jesus we were servants. We were trying to please someone. Whether it be our parents, friends, people we looked up to, our bosses, the leaders of our church… God… we were serving.
But hold on to the promise as a parent that if you bring up your child in an attitude and atmosphere of service they WILL BECOME A SON at the length.
Your efforts to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6) will result in the promise that “he will become a son.”
The key is that our Father in heaven delicately brings us up. We must do the same.
Too often we are hard on our children. Too often we wish God was harder on us… that He would just shout form the heavens with a loud voice exactly what He wants us to do.
Too often we forget that He speaks through His word, the Bible, delicately to us. Patiently, gently, continually.
If you are having a struggle with a child who doesn’t seem to have come into their inheritance in Christ… hang in there.
Perhaps it is just that our Father is being more delicate with them than we had hoped.
