The purifying power of praise

“[As] the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so [is] a man to his praise.” Proverbs 27:21
The fining pot was hot.  So was the furnace.
Both were used to release the impurities from the precious metals.  The temperature was turned up slowly so that the metal itself was not destroyed by the heat.
Both were long intense processes.  They needed to be watched by the refiner so that just at the right time the metal was poured into a mold or cooled so it could be fashioned.
Praise does the same thing for a man.
When we praise God we often start with just a hand clap.  Maybe an “AMEN!” here or there.  And slowly, perhaps over years, we begin to find the voice of our praise.  We begin to get a bit louder.
The heat gets turned up.
And God uses our praise to purify us.  As we praise Him the impurities come out.  God makes us molten.  He watches us, patiently and carefully so that just at the right time…  He can pour us into the new mold He has for us, or fashion us.
I personally experience such a release of the things the enemy would try to burden me with when I began to vocally (and a bit loudly) praise my King.  Not all at once mind you… but consistently.
Just like the fining pot or furnace.
God’s word is true.  He has given us a way to put ourselves in the process of purification… our praise to Him.
Hallelujah!  (which means Praise God!)
