Being a glider in tow…

I was driving down the road the other day when I saw an interesting sight that reminded me of how we are to be in Christ.
There was a single engine Cessna plane that had a glider in tow.  And I thought, “That’s it!  That is a great picture of a Christian!”…
Gliders have no engine and no means to proper themselves.  They are taken into flight by being towed by another aircraft.  And when they reach a certain height they are released to glide on the wind.
We, as people, have no means of being lifted up aside from Jesus.  He takes us in tow and helps us to reach new heights with Him.  And then, when He gets us to a certain point, He releases us to the wind of the Spirit to soar as on eagle’s wings.
We, like the glider, have no means of propelling ourselves but have to depend on Him and His Spirit to keep us in flight.  We make no sound, and don’t distract from Him in any way.  When others see us “gliding” they are forced to acknowledge that we got there because someone towed us up there…
And we must tell them that it was Jesus!
Glide!
