“And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give [it] you.” John 16:23
Pretty bold promise. Whatsoever covers a whole lot. And thank God that it does!
But why is it that praying in the Name of Jesus is so powerful?
Praying in the Name of Jesus is not simply saying, “In the name of Jesus” at the end of a prayer. It is not repeating the name of Jesus.
It is existing in His name.
It is finding our identity completely in Him and having the confidence that when we pray, God does not see us, He sees Jesus. When we pray in the name of Jesus we become completely void of ourselves and take on Christ.
Therefore, when we go before the Father He does not see a sinful, imperfect, inadequate, underserving, rebellious, failed-to-be faithful person. He sees Jesus, who was obedient unto death. He sees the One who held nothing back. Therefore nothing is held back from Him.
God revealed Himself through His name.
When Moses asked the Lord who he should say sent him, the Lord replied to tell them that “I AM” sent you.
And through the blood of the Lamb we can take on the very name of God because, “God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Ephesians 2:9-11
There is power in the name of Jesus.
And we, as His own, have the privilege of praying IN HIS NAME.
Fill the bowl with prayers… leave it on the altar… IN JESUS NAME… and He, Christ Jesus Himself, will deliver that bowl to the Father, Who will not deny Him.
Every prayer that Jesus speaks comes to pass. When we pray in His name our prayers become His prayers.
Therefore they WILL come to pass.
