Tremble thou earth…

Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;” Psalm 114:7
The Bible teaches that we are all “of the dust” and all “turn to dust again.” (Ecc 3:20)
We are earth… made from clay.  Man was formed from what God had created.  He became a living soul when God breathed the breath of life into him.
And as “earth” the appropriate response to being in the presence of the Lord is to tremble.  But not a trembling that denotes fear…
But rather excitement.
The word for “presence” is paniym.  And it means “face.”
When we see God we are overcome with excitement.  We can help ourselves.  Our physical body is responding to the perfect, sinless, incredible, all-consuming beauty of our Lord.
And the word for “tremble” is chuwl.  It often means dance.
David had it right.  When he came back from battle victorious he knew that it was because of the Lord.  He had seen Jehovah Nissi (the Lord our Victory) and he responded with a good ‘ol fashioned “tremble.”
A dance.
How much time do we spend dancing at the sight of our Lord’s face?
The vail has been torn.  We can go in.
We can see His face.
And we can dance.
