Being a part of something bigger…

There is a theory that says that man has an innate need or desire for significance.  There is a hierarchy of needs… and one of those things is that you need to know that you matter, and that you made a difference.

To fill that void or need, people will either try to achieve something big… or become a part of something bigger than they are themselves.  I am sure that you can think of examples… even in your own life.  From being on a sports team, to protesting some social wrong… to putting a decal on your car showing your support. 

We want to be counted.  We need to know that we matter, that because we exist, something is better.

If you want to be a part of something big…

trying agreeing in prayer with others who have a heart for God.

The effects are amazing!  The impact… unimaginable.

“Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.  And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon [him], and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from [his] hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.” Acts 12:5-9

This is just one example of how agreeing in prayer made a huge impact.  Had Peter died, the beginning story of the Church would have been much different.

Homothymadon.  That is the Greek word that is translated “one accord” in the New Testament.  It means with one mind, with one accord, with one passion. 

There is so much power in unity… so much power in agreement… so much power in having One Passion: Jesus.

“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 18:19

If you want to be a part of something bigger… agree with someone on something big… and when you know that your heart is in the right place… ASK.
