Corporate Prayer

The word “corporate” means united in one body comes from the root “corpus” which means body. When a business in incorporated it brings all of the parts together to form one entity.  And that is what the Body of Christ was meant to be: One Entity.
There is amazing power when the Body of Christ comes together in unity, as one entity to pray.  It disrupts the kingdom of darkness, thwarts the plans of the enemy, and releases the power of God in an amazing way.
Consider the following.  Peter was captured and locked up.  The church had no means of fighting for him until they realize that the fight was not one in the flesh, but in the spirit.  So they took the fight where it belonged.
Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.” Acts 12:5
They prayed corporately, without ceasing, meaning that they didn’t give up even when they would have thought it was doing no good, that Pete would be released.
What happens… well, after the angel has to actually smack Peter on the side of the head (how cool is that!  Pete actually learned something from Jesus sleeping in the boat during the storm.  He was in prison, potentially facing death, and he is sleeping like a baby!  He must have been thinking, “The Lord’s got this… I’m gonna take a nap.”) Peter is miraculously delivered and doesn’t even realize it until he is almost home!
And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and [from] all the expectation of the people of the Jews.” Acts 12:11
If that isn’t enough for you… consider this…
It was corporate prayer that put the crowd in the upper room in the right place when the Spirit came on Pentecost.  And again when Pentecost: The Sequel came out.
These all continued with one accord in prayer” Acts 1:4
they were all with one accord in one place.” Acts 2:1
Praying corporately both positioned the people for the power and released the power.
We should really understand this.  Coming together as a body increases the chances of the body experiencing something big together!
We can all commune with God in our closets, and that is a good thing.  But there is something humbling and human about being with family.  And the church is a family.
Be the Body… pray as One Entity.
