Are you diabolical?

When we hear about a diabolical plan we often associate it with a villain or the “bad guy.”  We know that a plan of this nature is typical not for good.
But many more of us would have to admit that we were all too often diabolical.
The word from which we get diabolical is the Greek word diabolos.
Wait a minute… I know this word… I have seen it somewhere before.
Oh… that’s right.  Jesus used it:
Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a diabolos (devil)?” John 6:70
Jesus was speaking of Judas… who betrayed Him.  And He used the word diabolos to describe him.  So what does it mean and why do I say that many more of us would be considered diabolical?
Diabolos:  prone to slander, slanderous, accusing falsely
Accusing falsely.  You might argue me on slander… but have you ever said to someone, “you did that on purpose!” when they might not have?
Then you accused falsely.
If you ever tag someone with a stereotype without knowing them…
Yep… accusing falsely.
Diabolos
When we accuse falsely… we betray Christ.  And He is the Defender of the falsely accused.
Be gracious.  Bring no false accusation… no slander… no gossip.
Don’t be diabolical.
