High grass

If you have ever watched any of those nature shows you know that the predators always can be found lurking in the high grass.  It conceals them.  It gives them cover.  It gives them a chance to get closer than they would otherwise, and it gives them a chance to stalk their prey.

Farmers and ranchers in places where lions are abundant will often cut down the high grass that surrounds their fields or ranches.  They will clear it out so that the area is safer.  It doesn’t completely prevent the lions from coming, but it will make it harder for them to get closer, or to come without being spotted.

So let me ask you…

Do you have high grass?

“because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8

Spiritual high grass… that part of your property that you let overgrow… the “little” sins that you let remain in your life… make for great cover for the enemy to get close.

But it isn’t just you he’s after.  Your high grass is putting your family in danger.  You may think it is OK in your life… that your “have it under control,” or perhaps the enemy has you believing that it is “acceptable,”  but when the adversary comes into your high grass he looks for whom he may devour.  It could be your wife.  It could be your kids.  But no matter who he comes after…

He can get close because of what you have not cut down.

Be like the ranchers and the farmers… spend some time making it safe.

Repent of the “littlest” sins before those blades turn into stalks and you place yourself and the ones you love in danger.
