He is your Savior… but do you serve Him as Lord?

Jesus is referred to as “Lord Jesus” approximately 180 times in the New Testament.
As Savior… 11 times.
Yet many seem so ready to claim Him as their Savior… to redeem them from their sins… to give them new life… but then to dismiss Him as Lord.
But it is the very truth that He is Savior which should drive in us the very desire to serve Him as Lord.
The word for Lord that is used in the New Testament… the word that is used to describe Jesus as Lord is kyrios
Kyrios: he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master, lord
You belong to Jesus.  He is Redeemer… He has bought you back, paid the price.
You made the decision to accept His sacrifice… to receive the invitation to salvation… but are you living as a disciple of Christ?  Are you following Him daily?
When you say, “Lord, Lord!” are you certain that He sees that you are talking to Him?
Who are you serving?  Christ died to save you from your sins… are you serving yourself?... your needs?... your desires?
Have you committed your way unto Him? (Psalm 37:5)
Am I suggesting that to live as a lax Christian causes you to lose salvation? To forfeit eternal life?
No.
But what I am stating… not merely suggesting… that when you do not serve Jesus as Lord… when you do not turn your whole life over to Him… you forfeit the life abundant that He promises for us now.
Do not just receive eternal life in heaven through Jesus…
Live the life He came to give you… life more abundantly.  A life of growing closer to Him… a life of growing in grace.
But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18
Grace is a place.*  It is a place of God’s favor.  It is a place where obedience and surrender open the flood gates of heaven to pour out ZOE (life) abundantly.

*I know that grace is many other things… I was just trying to make a point.
