To minister is to meet a need. When we speak of someone being in the ministry we actually are not using the best description.
Why?
Because we can all meet a need. Even if it is just one need. In fact, we all partake in the ministry. And we have to before we can do anything else for Christ.
What is that ministry?...
Singing.
Yep. Singing. And we don’t even have to be good at it. It is the first ministry we need to undertake before we figure out what the Lord would have us do.
“And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem: and [then] they waited on their office according to their order.” 1 Chron 6:32 bold mine
If you ever wonder why we start our services with music… this should begin to shed some light on the situation.
Yes, we enter His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise… but singing… that meets a need.
And who has needs? Not the Lord… He is all sufficient.
We do.
Notice also that they sing before the dwelling place of the tabernacle. Singing gets us ready to go in. It gets us to the place we need to be before we can get to where He wants us.
Why?
Because singing gets us out of our heads… and into our hearts.
Stay tuned… hahaha... stay tuned… get it? Like and instrument of ten strings. Ready to sing!
We will look at the second bold phrase tomorrow.
