To be a diligentleman

I like coining phrases.  I don’t know if “diligentleman” will ever catch on, but what it implies we be should.
The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.” Proverbs 21:5
Diligent: characterized by steady, earnest, and energetic effort. (reference )
We need to be diligent. We need to be characterized by steady, earnest, and energetic effort.
In what?
In everything.
But especially in our relationship with Jesus.
I love that this verse does not put a qualifier on diligent.  It doesn’t use it as an adjective as much as a noun.  If it had said diligent in business we might have thought it didn’t apply anywhere else.  But it didn’t.  It says that the thoughts of those characterized by steady, earnest, and energetic effort in (insert whatever here) [tend] only to plenteousness.
Plenteousness: a continued state of having more than necessary to meet your needs
I want that. I want it in every area of my life.
But most of all I want it of Him.
We need to go hard after Him… and we’ll always have more than what we need.
Otherwise… we find ourselves being tossed in the wind and by the waves… and in a state of want… a state of lack.
Will you be a diligentleman?
