What’s for dinner?

My wife can cook.  Man, can she cook.  She is actually pretty famous for it.
I had to give a sermon for school and my pastor said I could do it at the church.  So on the Sunday prior they announced it at the beginning of services, “Mike Colucci will be giving a sermon here on Tuesday night.  Everyone is encouraged to come out in support…”
You could hear crickets…
“And Donna will be preparing food for those who come.”
And the church broke out into cheers and clapping.  I’m serious.
Luckily, we didn’t have anything for dinner that was forbidden by God.  You know why?...
For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.” 1 Timothy 4:4-5
“If it be received with thanksgiving.”
Funny how we ruin what God gives us when we don’t receive it with thanksgiving.  And while that is true for food, I believe it is true for all of the things that God gives us.
We must be thankful for what He gives us.
But just receiving it doesn’t change what it is.  It needs to be sanctified.  Hagiazō
Sanctify: to set apart and make holy, to make sacred; to consecrate
And how…
By the Word of God and Prayer.
Everything we receive, whether food or not, is made holy when we receive it with thanksgiving as from Him and sanctify it with His Word and Prayer.
He is the Word.  By His death He has made all things able to be holy.  Us included.  And we when say the sinner’s prayer we are sanctified by His blood.  And when we pray over whatever we receive, it is covered by His blood as well.
The Word.  And Prayer.
Make it a lifestyle.
