“Then said I, Woe [is] me! for I am undone; because I [am] a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, [which] he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid [it] upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here [am] I; send me.” Isaiah 6:5-8 bold mine
Isaiah had a revelation we all need. We stand in a place where the confession of the world… the thing that they say along with the spirit of the world … is altogether against God.
The devil would have man exalt himself above God. He would have man say things that go against the Word of God.
But Isaiah had this revelation because he had “seen the King, the LORD of hosts.”
Seeing Jesus is what allows the Holy Spirit to convict us (not condemn us) and bring us to that same place… the place of the altar, where the coals are laid upon our mouths, and they touch our lips, and we begin to confess that Jesus is Lord.
And just as Isaiah was unable to answer, “Here [am] I; send me” until his iniquity [was] taken away, and [his] sin [was] purged, so neither can we truly answer the call of God upon our lives until we do the same.
Let us grasp the power of the confession that Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Most High. Let us reach for His garment and be ourselves clothed in righteousness.
Let us magnify the Lord together.
Let us all long for burnt lips.
