Hot coffee + a bump in the road

The enemy has been hard pressed against my family lately… particularly my wife and I.  We know that the Lord has great plans ahead and can feel that we are on the cusp, so it doesn’t surprise us that the devil is getting more active in his deliberate, overt, easy to spot acts.
But still… we know this and continue on.
There are times when I believe we are to ignore the enemy, to not give him the time of day, to basically blow him off.
And there are times when I think we are meant to engage.
And the tactics that the Lord will use to nudge us in to battle are often interesting.
Take for instance today.  I don’t have the time or space to tell you all that the enemy has been trying to do.  He is so scared at what he has seen is on the way… I bet he is getting ready himself to fight the angels that are coming with these deliveries.
So my wife and I have been in prayer.
But I believe the Lord wanted more from me today.  He wanted me to rebuke Satan.  He wanted me to engage and claim the victory that is ours in Christ Jesus.
And He used a cup of coffee to do it.  Funny how we get so used to the attacks of the enemy we forget that we “wrestle” with him.  He can get the upper hand if we do not demonstrate some spiritual muscle.
So when I went to take a sip of my coffee and it went on my shirt instead I went off.  I started yelling at the devil telling him I had had enough.  If you drove past me in the car you would have seen quite a sight.  Shouting!  Yelling!  Praising!
All over a cup of coffee and a bump in the road.  So it seemed.
I guess the Lord knew just what would be the straw today… just what I needed to get to the Popeye moment of, “That’s all I can stands and I can’t stands no more.”
I think I’ll leave this shirt stained for a while… as a thank you.
