“[It is] the glory of God to conceal a thing:” Proverbs 25:2a
So many times in my life I just wish God would show me what’s up. I just want Him to pull back the curtain and say, “This is EXACTLY what I am doing.” Or, “This is exactly WHY I am doing it.”
But He doesn’t always do that.
Because it is His Glory.
Why?
Because God’s glory is His very identity. Our God conceals things.
Sound wrong? Maybe.
Like to think that God is just a God of revelation… a God who reveals… and does not conceal.
But when He sent His one and only Son, Christ Jesus, to pay for our sin… He showed us that it is in His nature to cover… to conceal… our sin.
It is His desire.
What He has done for us is so amazing we could never fully understand.
But He also conceal things… or carefully hides them… for another reason.
So that we can search them out.
“but the honour of kings [is] to search out a matter.” V 2b
We are kings beneath the King of Kings. And so we demonstrate our heart and love for God when we value (honor) what He has concealed and render what is due (honor) our Lord by diligently searching it out.
He enjoys watching us look into things… trying to understand them… because it shows Him how much we love Him.
God may conceal… but to those who diligently seek… He reveals.
