“And again he entered into Capernaum after [some] days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive [them], no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken [it] up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee… I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.” Mark 2:1-5, 11-12
Man! These are the kinds of friends I want.
You know… often we miss the little things that make the most difference. This guy was bed ridden. But he had friends. Friends who would do anything they needed to just to get him to Jesus. When they heard He was in town… nothing stopped them.
Can you picture the scene? One friend gathers the other three and says, “Let’s go! Today is the day!” And they don’t just go get there friend out of bed… they get the whole bed. And when it looks like there is too big of a crowd these guys risk their lives and the insurance premiums for vandalism and rip the roof off!
They knew that they couldn’t do anything to help their friend’s condition… but they knew they could do something to get Him to the One Who could.
Are we doing the same?
We should be.
Is there someone you know who really needs Jesus? Are there a group of others who will go with you who love that person too and know that Jesus is the answer?
Whatever their problem… whatever their struggle… whatever has them bed-ridden… we need to rip the roof off and get them to His feet.
Let Jesus see our faith. The faith to see them have their sins forgiven.
