“Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.” Matt 11:28-30
Oh yes… the heavy laden. Do you fit into this group?
If you have every thought, “Why is this happening to me?” or “I don’t understand why my life is so hard.” You qualify for being heavy laden.
The heavy laden represent those of us who find ourselves in situations that we didn’t expect and don’t want. These are the people who have had life pushed on them.
Job was heavy laden. You might share some of his story.
Have you ever lost a loved one before their time? Have you ever lost your finances, or your job? Had relationships broken, or have found yourself with an illness that seems to have no cure? Been swamped by bills or bullies? Been left out or forgotten? Had a boss that didn’t notice you or a spouse that didn’t care?
Has the weight of the world been breaking your back?
Then you are heavy laden.
The heavy laden represent all of the things that happen to us outside of our control. The expectations others put on us or the rules and regulations of religion.
If you fall into this category… the Great Invitation is for you.
I hope that the suspense isn’t killing you (please note the sarcasm) but I am going to wait until tomorrow to see exactly what the invitation in verse 28 is tomorrow. And, believe it or not, there is a different invitation in verse 29. It is related, but it is also very specific. It is dependent upon the verse 28 invite, so we need to go in order.
Tomorrow… rest.
Until then…
