“Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:14-15
Just before Jesus was taken up into heaven He gave what has been called The Great Commission.
Why do you suppose that while Jesus was here, in the glorified flesh after the resurrection, He didn’t replace Judas? Why was the Great Commission only given to eleven when, after He left, the Apostles drew lots to see who would take the place of the betrayer? Wouldn’t it have made more sense to take care of that technicality before the ascension?
When they were getting their uniforms for the starting line-up of the “Dreams and Visions” Team, why wasn’t the number 12 given?...
because we are each number 12.
That is our spot on the team. Before coming to the Lord we each held the position of the betrayer. The Lord gave the marching orders to the incomplete team because He knew that He would be completing it every day until He came again.
Had there been twelve present, we might have thought the Commission ended with them. But there weren’t, there were only eleven. There was still an open spot.
Will you take it? Will you take the jersey with the number “12”?
