What are you looking at?

The light of the body is the eye:” Luke 11:34
How many times since September 11 have you noticed 9:11 on the clock?  How about the car you drive now… do you see more of them on the road since you started driving one?
You are not alone.  We take in so much information and images every second that we subconsciously discard the things that don’t mean something to us.
We see what we recognize.  We see what means something to us.
But we don’t always see what we need to…
because they seeing see not” Matt 13:13
Why?  Because what was before them didn’t mean that much to them.  They might argue, but if it had meant something to them to be saved from their sin… they would have seen the Messiah.
Instead, they wanted something else.  And they wanted it more.
And so, seeing, they saw not.
On the other hand, we need to ask ourselves… what are we looking at?  What do we notice a lot of?  What is the 9:11 in our lives?  And is it something we should be noticing?
This isn’t just faces in clouds that we are trying to find.  It could be dangerous.
We can be looking for the bad in someone, rather than the good.  It can mean more to find something wrong with them than something right.  We might want justification more than unity.
And that is what we’ll see.
And we won’t be able to keep our eyes off of it.
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.” Prov 4:25
Look to Christ.  Look for Christ in others.  Let it mean something to you.
Notice it.
