The Great Invitation (day 4)

Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.”  Matt 11:28-30
and I will give you rest”
If the promise is for rest then we must understand what rest is.
Rest is a place.
It is a place of confession.
It is a place of readiness.
It is a place of identity.
When God rested on the seventh day it was not that He slept.  It says he rested from all His work.  It was His work that provided the rest.  Rest was a result of the work, not a requirement of it.
When God gives you rest He gives you the answer to who you are… to the purpose in your life.  And He does it by revealing Himself as the Godhead through this action.
Three things He gives that make up rest.
Affirmation.  Satisfaction. Power.
The Father. The Son. The Holy Spirit.
The confessions that go along with these:
Affirmation: I am who God says I am. More than a conqueror.  A Child of God. Heir of God and Co-Heir with Christ.
Satisfaction: My sins have been forgiven, my debt has been paid. I have what God says I have, in Christ. All the riches of glory.  Access to the very storehouses of heaven.
Power: I can do what God says I can do, through Christ, by the power of the Spirit within me. I can move mountains.  I will do greater works that Christ did (with works being demonstrations of the power of God) because the Spirit of God lives within me.
The verse 28 invitation is one of eternal life. “Come unto me, everyone who is trying so hard to find out who they are, what their purpose is, if it all makes sense. Whether you have an easy life, or a hard one.  Whether you have been fighting to get more out of life, or fighting to get out from under it… I will affirm who you are, satisfy the debt of sin and death, and give you the power of the Holy Spirit.”
If you want to know that you are His… you need only accept His invitation.
If this is the verse 28 invite… what is the verse 29 one?  You’ll have to come back tomorrow.
